NOAH explores the experience of three real people in three different cities. All three of our characters emerged from a single question: Who still uses phone booths in 2020?” The ways in which we connect with one another are shaped by the tools we use to communicate. When the old tools disappear, those forms of connection die with them. Filmed in Montreal, Berlin and London, the video centers around three urban booths, deserted by most but indispensable by some, which like teleportation capsules are a portal into distant or past relationships. As these cubicles become increasingly obsolete, the video shines a light on the invisible people who still need or yearn for their presence in order to connect and begs the question; in a world of virtual communication, where can we still find physical spaces for connection, and what happens when these spaces are gone?
